The Pilsen Region supports development, competitiveness, and economic
growth through research and innovation activities. These activities
include not only areas of expertise, drawing on the region’s mechanical
engineering tradition, but also trends in the fields of biomedicine,
artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.
This is made possible by
a comprehensive regional innovation strategy, supporting the innovation
ecosystem, creating conditions for pursuing new business opportunities
and motivating young people to exploit their full potential.
The regional innovation strategy of the Pilsen Region defines five specializations:
Long-term research priorities of the Biomedical Center of the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Pilsen, and the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
Support of research, development, and innovation activities in the Pilsen Region in relation to transport as an integrating element of society.
Stems from the nature of the region, where the manufacturing industry has a decisive share in the regional economy.
Substantial capacities of research
organizations in the region, as well as on corporate R&D.
New materials and technologies are key to the development of almost all industries.
Located in the heart of Europe, with its excellent infrastructure and links to long-distance rail and road routes, combined with accessible, unspoiled countryside, allows local businesses to thrive, international collaborations to emerge and residents to live comfortably.
The Regional Innovation Strategy of the Pilsen Region (RIS3) expresses the consensus of major companies, research organizations, universities and public administration regarding the vision for the economic development of the Pilsen Region, and the direction it should take in the future. It emphasizes the importance of being open to cooperation, education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship, in order to make the region attractive to its residents, visitors, investors and partner institutions.
