The aim of the Smart Mobility domain is to support research, development, and innovation activities in the Pilsen Region in relation to transport as an integrating element of society, with a significant socio-economic effect, especially in terms of sustainable development, increased safety, efficiency, and fluidity of transport. The key drivers for transformation in the application sectors are the reduction of negative environmental impacts of transport, the use of progressive materials and technologies including digital and artificial intelligence, the development of new and alternative powertrains and propulsion units, and the promotion of electromobility. Opportunities for the use of automated and autonomous vehicles and unmanned systems, intelligent transport systems, co-operative intelligent transport systems, and new modes of transport involving a broader concept of mobility as a service, are expanding. Thanks to its industrial tradition, research capacities, and a well-developed public transport system, the Pilsen Region, and in particular its centre – the City of Pilsen – is an ideal setting for the demonstration and testing of new transport means and systems.
